SAFE DRIVING FOR LIFE
So you've passed your test, taken Pass Plus maybe, we really hope you enjoy and benefit from this important Life Skill that you've worked so hard to achieve.
However, in many ways this is just the beginning. We at Ignition encourage the ongoing development of driving ability. Whether you decide to undertake further training in the form of an Advanced Test or if you aim to improve your driving skills by taking pride in your driving and by using your experience to further hone your skills, you can become a better driver.
Other motorists are rarely impressed by bad, inconsiderate or dangerous driving but will often appreciate courteous, considerate and safe driving.
When you first pass your test, please remember that for the first two years you are on probation. If you get six points or more you will lose your full licence and have to reapply for your provisional licence and re-take both your Theory and Practical Driving Tests. Surely its just not worth risking it all.
The following are examples of how many points you can get for different offences:
- Going through a red light - 3 points
- Using a mobile phone while driving - 3 points
- Speeding - 3-6 points
- Driving when disqualified - 6 points
- Driving without insurance - 6-8 points
- Careless driving - 3-9 points
- Failing to stop after an accident - 5-10 points
- Dangerous driving - 3-11 points
- Attempting to drive when unfit through drink or drugs - 3-11 points
And please don't fall into the trap of thinking you will not get caught. In December 2008 under the New Drivers Act 1,428 licenses were revoked.
Last year in the UK around 100,000 drivers were convicted of drink driving.
And on a brighter note . . .
We are always pleased to hear from past clients. Let us know how your driving has developed. What are you driving now? Perhaps you drive for a living or perhaps you have taken an advanced course. Please let us know and if you have any experiences that you feel may be of benefit to new drivers we will be happy to include them on our website, anonymously if you so wish.
We wish you Safe Driving for Life.
